What is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of specialized exercises developed more than 70 years ago by Joseph H. Pilates. The Pilates method consists of an extensive repertoire of exercises designed to strengthen and enhance the body’s core muscles. The result is a more balanced body, strong lean muscles, and improved posture, flexibility, and efficiency of movement. In addition to meeting your fitness goals, these exercises are also beneficial for injury prevention and rehabilitation.
What that all means is that a Pilates practice will strengthen your abdominal and back muscles while teaching you to use your body correctly. The impact is increased strength, flexibility and overall body awareness. Pilates is a lifetime practice, appropriate for everyone – young and old, healthy and in need of rehabilitation.
Why Pilates Loft?
At Pilates Loft, our lineage comes from Ron Fletcher, one of Joseph Pilates original students. We teach fluid and choreographed movement while incorporating correct breathing, allowing a student to reach past their limits and access their inner strength. The focus of our instructors is on your body alignment. Through your Pilates practice, your body will be gently guided to correct and maintain proper alignment. Clients find that sometimes years of bad patterns will be corrected – reducing aches and pains and increasing energy and vitality.
Pilates Loft is a space free of distractions – the complete opposite of any experience one would have taking Pilates in a gym setting or really any other Pilates studio. Our team of specialists creates a spa-like atmosphere, a simple but beautiful setting, soothing music, and small groups, which allow clients to do their best work. You’ll find your stress left at the door when you enter, and more than likely, it won’t be waiting for you after a Pilates session.
Pilates Loft is not for everyone – we’re for a select group who want to work hard and make a continuous effort to improve their wellness.
