A-1-DE, Inc. Security is owned and operated by Paul W. De Baca. We regularly employ between 15 and 19 security officers and support personnel throughout the State of Colorado. Mr. De Baca directs all operations. Our corporate offices are located at 1562 S. Parker Road, Suite 220, Denver, Colorado (303-752-0031). Paul W. De Baca was the general manager for A-1 Security since 1987, and in October 2000 Mr. De Baca purchased the company from Steven McDonald and slightly changed the name.


A-1-DE, Inc. Security was founded in October 2000 with the corporate goal of becoming the premier, privately owned security contractor in the Rocky Mountain Region. We have worked to develop the expertise, management structure and client base necessary for this purpose. We are well on our way to reaching this goal in quality if not in size. A-1-DE honestly believes that the industry giants could take lessons from us on quality and client service.

To accomplish our goals, we have two basic philosophies we live by. The first is that we respond to each client, no matter its size, as if it were our only client. This means that all our management and security personnel are trained to be highly responsive to the client’s needs. We strive to always remember that we are a service business and therefore service must be our best product.

Secondly, we attempt to have a positive affect on each employee’s lifestyle. We accomplish this by paying above average wages and by dealing with each of our employees as if he/she is our most important employee, because it’s true. Our clients rely on the security officer, as do we, to provide the security service they purchase from us. Therefore, security officers are treated with the respect they deserve. Our management resolves problems fairly and efficiently, before they become grievances. In the way we build loyalty for our company and our clients, thereby ensuring better service. We encourage solving any issues at the lowest possible level, thereby increasing our client relationship.

Our approach to our employees has resulted in significantly better retention rates than most contract security firms. During the first thirty days of employment, we aggressively monitor and support new employee performance. Those who are unable or unwilling to meet our standards are released. The owner/president is directly involved with the day to day operation of the company. Our General Manager, and Field Supervisor, conduct field inspections on a random, non-scheduled basis to ensure that our quality standards are met. We occasionally contact our clients to ensure client satisfaction, but most important we assure each client that we are available 24 hours per day to respond to all client requests or concerns on your time schedule. This management team is directly responsible for the day-to-day supervision, inspections, and coordinates all matters between the security force and the client.

Sources of Applicants
Because A-1-DE has a diverse client base, we can select the specific type of individual to fulfill the needs of our client’s security program. Periodically we advertise for security professionals, in various newspapers and with job services. From the applicants who respond, we reject approximately 75 % because they lack the basic qualifications and skills we seek. The remaining applicants must successfully complete our background investigation, interview screening and initial training programs. Only 10 % of the applicants successfully qualify to become part of our work force.

Before completing the hiring process, we verify the applicant’s employment history through one of several methods. We perform telephone checks, or obtain written verification, or at times visits to previous employers. No officer will be hired if there is any question about his or her previous work history, time gaps, or unverifiable information.

Each applicant selected for employment is required to become licensed through the City and County of Denver. As a pre-screening each applicant is required to obtain a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background report to assist human resources in determining the personal character of each officer. As permitted by law, every applicant selected for employment is screened to ensure that they are physically fit for duty.

A-1-DE, Inc. Security selects only employee candidates who possess professionalism, personal pride and the highest level of integrity. The average employee has years of security experience, and many have worked in law enforcement, or have served in the armed forces.

We are dedicated to providing our clients with quality security professionals. As a “people oriented” service organization, it is vital that we give you the right person for the job. This is the responsibility of the president/owner, Paul De Baca. With over 22 years in the security field, he oversees all aspects of the recruiting, screening, selection and training process. Identifying and training qualified, seasoned security professionals provides peace of mind to you, our client.

Our Field Supervisors will conduct frequent, unannounced site inspections. These skilled professionals possess experience in both personnel management and security practices. Field Supervisors possess the experience necessary to counsel our employees and conduct periodic training/coaching to improve their performance. They also have the authority to relieve any officer who does not meet or exceed the client or A-1-DE’s standards.

Site/Shift Supervisor
For our larger accounts, we select a highly qualified person to function as the site supervisor. This individual will have extensive contract/security experience and specific knowledge concerning your type of account. They will serve as the main client liaison and be responsible for the day to day account operations. They will become familiar with the capabilities of each officer assigned to your account. Additionally, the Site Operation’s Supervisor makes recommendations on discipline, training and advancement within the account.
