We, the people of St. Matthew’s, come together in a welcoming environment to:
We are a home to Christians seeking to serve Christ in this world, learn more about how God can act in our lives and how we can grow ever closer to God through our relationship with Jesus Christ. We hope that you will find our worship, prayer, ministry and fellowshipwill lead you to an ever deepening relationship with God in a way that will impact your life, family and friendships.
The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, 80 million Christians seeking God’s kingdom within each of our quite different cultures. We pray for one another every week and seek to share our understanding across our cultures. Our tradition has strong ties to the church in its catholic, or “universal”, history and liturgy; and feels as well the pull of the reformation era to bring the apostolic teaching of the church into modern terms. You will find our worship expresses a deep commitment to the ancient tradition of the liturgy of Holy Communion, or the “Mass” as it’s known by many Roman Catholics, as well the music, education and ministry of a more modern era. We value both our Catholic and Reformed traditions.
We reach out to families and young people with Sunday School, Youth Group, Vacation Bible School, summer camps, retreats and various opportunities for ministry. We reach out to adults in our community with Bible Study, Sunday School, pastoral care and guidance, and opportunities for ministry in many forms. We reach out to the community with the Open Gate Thrift Shop, our participation in the Parker Task Force, and any number of Outreach opportunities during the year. We reach out to the wider world by our participation in the Anglican Communion and our trips to places where our brothers and sisters reside in more difficult circumstances than our own, such as Haiti, Malawi, Brazil and Mexico.
