VIRGINIA BEACH — A Norfolk police officer has been charged with drunken driving after an accident in a police vehicle in Virginia Beach.
Adam Bernstein, spokesman for Virginia Beach police, said emergency personnel responded just after midnight on Tuesday morning to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Blackwater Road. They found a police vehicle from the city of Norfolk that had crashed.
The driver, identified as David M. Cooper, was transported to Virginia Beach General Hospital and was subsequently charged with DUI. He was taken to the Virginia Beach Correctional Center and released on a $1,000 bond.
Another example that police are not always reliable witnesses.
