Architectural or decorative concrete has become one of the most popular ways to color and texture concrete, especially since it costs approximately a third less than many natural materials. A wide variety of colors are available with darkened highlights. The final patio is sealed with a special sealer to keep that bright new look.
This is another example of a beautiful back patio, just waiting for a table, some chairs, and a barbecue with burgers and hot dogs on the grill.
Stairs can be designed to match the character of the patio. The final product - with plants and a barbecue - makes the backyard a place to enjoy the summer.
Even rounded stairs are available to allow wide access to the patio door, making more space usable.
The finished product provides a barbecuing haven for an evening with you and your friends.
The options are truly endless - the most difficult decision is which color or pattern will work for you. The decision to have colored, stamped concrete is an easy decision: The value of your home increases when this type of work is done (imagine how this would look with gray colored cement!).
The colored concrete is poured into specially designed forms built to handle the weight of the premium quality concrete mixture. The forms are made to be easily removed once the concrete has set, allowing the edges to be trowel-finished for a more professional look.
The flat surfaces are then "bull floated," which means the surface is made smooth. The surface is then covered with a colored release powder. The dark color release is completely scattered over the top surface. The stamps, or textured mats, are then jigsaw-interlocked to provide the required pattern. The secondary colored release powder is stamped into the concrete, providing more color and accent to this three-dimensional design.
Some limited stamping can be done on the vertical faces of steps to complete the stamped look throughout the patio. Even the sides are removed and trowel-finished for the final look.
At this point, the concrete is left to cure completely. After it has cured, the excess release is washed off with high pressure equipment to put accent in low areas. Control joints are then cut to control hot/cold, expansion/contraction cracking during daily temperature changes.
After about 30 days, the concrete has cured enough and the patio is sealed to keep that shiny and bright "wet look." Since the cement is colored all the way through, any chips that are made at a later time are usually not noticeable - the color is now integral to the concrete, not just on its surface.
For garages and basements, walkways and driveways, patios and steps, concrete flatwork is often the installation of choice. It's significantly less expensive than stone or brick masonry, and increasing options and expertise in finishing is allowing concrete flatwork to compete aesthetically. What you need to know about concrete flatwork is that it's not a bland home improvement installation. It can require careful consideration, much like a countertop or floor covering. Matching the correct concrete finish and design to your project will greatly enhance the quality of the installation and your home.
Large jobs, of course, require larger equipment. However, with a reputation for efficiency and high quality, AAA Perfect Design Concrete can handle large commercial jobs or smaller jobs, such as driveway replacement. This includes demolition, repair, and hauling away the old concrete.
Smaller equipment is used for the housing industry to prevent damage to the finished area of the job site. Much more hand labor and wood forms are needed to do the job right!
In these cases "Bobcats" and wheelbarrows are the tools for the day. They save time and labor, lowering the overall cost of the project. All of this attention to detail lowers the final cost of the project, which can then be passed on to the customer.
The equipment is important but highly trained personnel are imperative for a high quality sidewalk, driveway, or any other cement flatwork. We have multiple crews - all experts in their field.
This particular project required seamless cement meeting with brick facing. This is just one example of the many options available with AAA Perfect Design Concrete.
A finished job shows the combination of landscape and cement to be aesthetically pleasing, while practical for the use of the area. This is a mixture of standard concrete and colored, stamped concrete to add highlights to the area.
This picture shows the initial creation of the curbs and gutters for a complete sub-division. Although the machine performs flawlessly, the work is carefully inspected and any small touchup required is done by hand. Our equipment and training provide unsurpassed service to help you reach your building goals, while our reasonable prices help you maintain your budget.
Sal Dominguez checks the newly-made curb and gutter to ensure that it meets health requirements and the correct pitch for drainage.
Although the Curb and Gutter Machine is very cost-efficient for large jobs, small areas may still be done with forms to create the desired results.
