We invite you to contact us directly via e-mail at contactus@wildspiritsgallery.com, or better yet, via phone at 800-496-5837 or 970-586-4392. Best of all, stop in and see us in person at the store at 148 W. Elkhorn Avenue whenever you are in the Estes Park/Rocky Mountain National Park area.
Wild Spirits was started in 1995 by Cindy and Dan Via as an art gallery and gift store. Custom picture framing was gradually added as Cindy took framing classwork and developed the framing side of the business into what is now the leading frame shop in Estes Park. After getting started in the Old Church Shops mall, the business moved out to a storefront on Elkhorn Avenue in 1997, and then moved to our current location in 2001. We are in the heart of the Estes Park shopping district, surrounded by other shops and restaurants.
Estes Park is the gateway community to Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the best wildlife watching, hiking, camping, mountain climbing, rock climbing and all around outdoor recreation areas in North America. Since we are located in one of the most scenic areas of America, if not the world, and have abundant wildlife strolling through our yards, feeding on our golf courses, and lounging in our town parks, it's not surprising that Wild Spirits specializes in wildlife and nature art with an emphasis on the animals and scenery right outside our door.
Rather than original artworks, we specialize in the lower cost option of open and limited edition prints and photographs by national, regional, and local artists. About half of our prints are from photographs, the other half are prints of paintings, drawings or other non-photographic media. Some of the best known scenic, wildlife, and western artists are represented: Judy Larson, Bev Doolittle, Robert Bateman, Daniel Smith, Nancy Glazier, Carl Brenders, Ansel Adams, Tim Cox, Frank Macarthy, Howard Terpening, Tony Stromberg, Gary Crandall, Brett Longley, Albert Bierstadt, and many more. Estes Park and the Colorado front range area are home to many artists and we are very happy to carry the work of local and Colorado photographers Don George, Bruce Lichtenberger, and Scott Pope. We are also very proud to carry the beautiful wood sculptures of Colorado native Lawrence Oliver.
Our print suppliers include some of the largest and best known publishers: Greenwich Workshop, Mill Pond Press, Somerset House, Toh-Atin Publishing, Bruce McGaw Graphics, New York Graphic Society, Image Conscious, etc. The entire online catalogs of many of these publishers is available for your exploration through our links section. If you find something of interest in these collections please contact us. We can probably obtain it for you.
The vast majority of the artwork on display has been framed by Cindy who is a member of the Professional Picture Framers Association. The emphasis is on keeping costs and prices low while emphasizing and enhancing the beauty of the image itself. Customers are often surprised at our low prices and great values.
Frame and mat design encompass much more than simply putting a mat and frame around your picture. The style, size, color, and visual texture of the framing materials work together to enhance the artwork, while simultaneously complementing your unique personality and style. We can help you choose the perfect design for your art suggesting matting and framing options that will enhance your artwork while keeping within your budget. And, with conservation framing, we can help assure that your prized art or memorbilia will last for years to come. We can frame your needlework, limited edition fine art prints, original artwork, childrens art, or open edition prints and posters. We can also create shadowboxes to showcase medals, coins, clothing, even peace pipes! With years of experience in custom framing, we can help you with all the decisions that go into framing to ensure you go home with a beautiful piece of art.
Sculpture, Figurines, and Gifts:
In addition to Lawrence Oliver's unique original wood sculptures we carry a large selection of the very popular Trail of the Painted Ponies and Call of the Wolf figurine collections. The Painted Ponies series started several years ago when various artists competed to cover full size fiberglass pony mock ups with unique designs. The designs vary from the spiritual to the whimsical, covering a wide assortment of Native American, wildlife, nature, historical, and other themes. Many have been reproduced as very reasonably priced, small scale, collectible figurines. A new competition and new designs are added every year and now there are dozens of ponies available in the series. And for those collectors who might prefer wolves over ponies, the similar Call of the Wolf collection also offers a growing number of wolf figurines.
