Over our 62 year history in the civil engineering and land surveying business, we have experienced significant changes in the industry technology. In being exposed to these changes, we have the advantage of knowing what tools are appropriate for use in each phase of the work. Some of the key tools which our staff are proficient with and use in everyday work include:
Total Stations, GPS Systems, Levels, and Data Collectors
Computer Aided Drafting (AutoCAD 2009 with Carlson 2009)
Word Processing and Spreadsheets (Microsoft)
Large Format Color Plotters
GIS (Geographic Information System, ESRI products)
Other specialized software as needed for hydrology, hydraulics, water modeling, sewer modeling, etc.
Davis Engineering Service (DES) was established in Del Norte, Colorado in 1948 by Paul B. Davis, P.E./P.L.S., a 1939 graduate of the Colorado School of Mines. Initially, the firm was engaged in land and mine surveying and water filings. Since that time, the firm has steadily increased its scope of engineering and surveying services to accommodate and facilitate the needs of our diverse clientele. DES was incorporated in 1967, and in 1997 moved the Del Norte staff to the current corporate office in Alamosa, Colorado and in 1986 a branch office was opened in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
