Collins Muffler was founded in 1958 in Loveland CO at the present site of Good Times burgers located on Lincoln and Eisenhower. At that time, the site was a Standard Oil gas station and owned and operated by Joseph and James Anstett. Joe and Jim decided to open a second shop in Fort Collins in 1959 that focused only on shocks and mufflers. Collins Muffler was the only muffler shop between Denver and Canada. Customers came from Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho to receive a quality muffler, great shocks, and superior service. The family atmosphere and the motto of “Never say no” made Collins Muffler grow to be #1 in the state. Jim always followed the Golden Rule: Treat customers the way you want to be treated.
