Ronnie Holze, of Crested Butte, Colorado, is a dedicated artist best known for his depiction of the many moods and splendor of the majestic Rocky Mountains and the wildlife, especially trout, that live there. His understanding of nature and wildlife in their natural environment is reflected in his choice of color, attention to detail, and sense of composition found in each of his paintings.
Born and raised in Central Texas, Ronnie spent his first years as an artist painting the bluebonnets, cactus and windmills that are typical of that area. In 1994, Ronnie and his wife Kay moved to Crested Butte, Colorado where they live in a log home ten miles from town, overlooking the spectacular mountains that he loves to paint. "What better inspiration to see first hand the many moods and spirit of these magnificent mountains, than to live among them each day."
Ronnie is a self-taught oil painter specializing in landscape, wildlife and trout, and has published many limited edition prints. His paintings have been chosen to be the cover picture on twenty different fly fishing guide books and maps. He is an avid fly fisherman and scuba diver, which enables him to capture underwater pictures of trout in their natural habitat.
His love of the outdoors is evident in the detail and feeling that is transmitted through the visual experience of each painting. Ronnie believes strongly that an artist must know his subject and enjoy what he is creating.
